Quality Assurance (QA) of IC3 fleet in Israel

  • In 2014, KP Consulting signed an agreement with Israel Railways ISR on the establishment of QA Quality Assurance on their fleet of IC3 Trainsets (45 train sets), which Alstom has maintained since 2013.
  • KP Consulting team consisting of an IC3 engineer, Team leader and QA technicians have successfully managed to establish QA process in the maintenance project.
  • For most of the time, the team covers all trains in the fleet (3 daily shifts) after completion of maintenance before the train sets were released for operation.
  • QA process was established at the start of the project and updated continuously, tuned to the end customer ISR and Alstom. The process includes classification of failures in security classes, measurement and registration procedure during inspection and reporting. Based on the QA team's assessment, the safety standard was crucial for whether the trains could return to full service.
  • The result was an improvement in train maintenance from a low starting level in 2014 (availability, MTBF, etc.) by more than 50%.
  • As part of the agreement, training of ISR Technical Staff (OJT) was included in quality control.
  • In 2016 ISR extended the contract.​
